Ken Spears, the man who co-created the iconic cartoon character “Scooby-Doo” along with Ruby died a few days back at the age of 82 years. Scooby-Doo is the name that every kid in this world might be familiar with. Almost all of us grew watching this amazing dog and the gang of meddling kids in the famous cartoon series “Scooby-Doo! Where are you” that aired on CBS in September 1969.
They both created this character when they were a part of the famous cartoon creating powerhouse Hanna-Barbera and wrote almost 21 of the first 25 episodes that were aired on CBS. Before Ken Spears, Ruby also died almost 3 months back. Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, said; “You cannot find a screen in the world that has not played a version of Scooby-Doo and that they are honored to carry on the legacy of Ken Spear’s beloved characters”. Spears once said in an undated interview; “We thought Scooby-Doo wouldn’t even last one season, as It was up against The Hardy Boys on NBC, and we thought we’d get clobbered in the ratings.” But this character has been spreading love all over the world for almost 50 years now.
