The prestigious UK-based publication Times Higher Education has issued a ranking of the global universities based on multiple academic indicators during the past three years. Despite the lockdowns and social restrictions, Pakistani universities have stolen the spotlight in the global race for higher education. According to the forecast of Times Higher Education for next year, Pakistan will go ahead of its arch-rival, India, in the South Asian region.
In this annual publication of global university rankings, Pakistan has surfaced as the world’s fastest-improving nation in terms of teaching, research, learning, and other academic amenities. The performance improvement of the Pakistani universities has been the fastest world over in terms of Research Citations, and Teaching scores. These results were derived after the review of 108 million research citations, and 430,000 data points from the participating institutions all around the globe. According to this prestigious ranking, 7 Pakistani universities are in top-800, 11 universities are in the top 1,000, and 21 universities have been ranked in the top 1,600 universities worldwide.
