In the backdrop of the HBL PSL 6 tournament postponement, PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) on Friday 7th March, announced an independent fact-finding panel to review the bio-secure protocol implemented during the tournament. This panel consists of 2 distinguished experts of infectious diseases; Dr. Syed Faisal Mahmood from The Agha Khan University, and Dr. Salma Muhammad Abbas from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Lahore. Their job will be to give a detailed investigation report to PCB Chairman Mr. Ehsan Mani on increase in COVID-19 cases during the HBL PSL 6 tournament by 31st March. They will critically analyze the COVID-19 SOPs for the HBL PSL 6, identify any loopholes, and will advise PCB with the reasons why the bio-secure environment provided by PCB didn’t remain COVID free.
The sole purpose of the panel is to give an objective, honest, and constructive review. The panel will make recommendations that they deem appropriate.
