The three bigwigs of Pakistan, COAS, DG ISI, and Prime Minister Imran Khan had a meeting with each other. This is the third time this month that all of them had gathered for a meeting. According to the statement issued by PMO (Prime Minister Office), COAS (Chief Of Army Staff) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG-ISI (Director General inter-Services Intelligence) Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid called on Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan on Monday to have a meeting.
According to the PMO statement matters pertinent to the internal and external security issues of the country were discussed in the meeting. Further details were not shared by the PMO. This high-level meeting is the third of its kind between the three that took place in the Prime Minister’s office this month. Previously meetings like this were held on 11th January and 25th January respectively. Analysts believe that these might be linked to the ongoing Afghan situation. These meetings might have taken place to finalize the strategy of Pakistan of Afghan issue, as the Biden administration is soon expected to contact Islamabad formally to discuss Afghanistan peace efforts.
